Indication :
  • The preparation contains a dry extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves.
  • It is a herbal medicine used to improve age-related cognitive impairment and quality of life in mild dementia.
Dosage :
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • The recommended dose for adults and elderly patients is 1 film-coated tablet twice a day.
  • The twice daily intake should be in the morning and evening.
  • children and young people
    • There is no relevant indication for children and adolescents.
  • Special patient groups
    • There are no data on dosing in case of impaired renal or hepatic function.
  • duration of use
    • The treatment should last at least 8 weeks.
    • If the symptoms have not improved after 3 months or if the symptoms of the disease worsen, the doctor must check whether the continuation of the treatment is still justified. 
  • If you take more than you should
    • There are no known cases of overdose. You may experience increased symptoms as described in the "Side Effects" category.
    • If you have taken an overdose of ginkgo contact your doctor or seek medical advice as you may need medical treatment. 
  • If you forget to take a dose
    • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

way :
  • The film-coated tablets are taken orally. Do not take the tablets lying on your back. The tablets should be swallowed whole (not chewed) with liquid, preferably a glass of water. It can be taken independently of meals.
Side effects :
  • Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
  • Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people):
    • Headache.
  • Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):
    • Dizziness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting.
  • Not known (cannot be estimated from the available data):
    • Bleeding in individual organs (eyes, nose, cerebral and gastrointestinal bleeding), hypersensitivity reactions (allergic shock), allergic skin reactions (skin redness, oedema, itching and rash).
  • If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.
Interactions :
  • Taking with other medicines
    • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
    • This also includes medicines bought without a prescription.
    • Ginkgo can affect the way other medicines work.
    • Therefore, do not take this medication before consulting your doctor:
      • if you are taking anticoagulant medicines (e.g. phenprocoumon and warfarin) or antiplatelet medicines (e.g. clopidogrel, acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs),
      • if you take dabigatran
      • if you are taking nifedipine.
    • Concomitant use of Ginkgo biloba preparations and efavirenz is not recommended; Efavirenz plasma concentrations may be decreased.
