Every spring, connoisseurs await the finest of teas: the delicately fragrant Darjeeling, first picked after the long winter break and known as flight tea. Dallmayr has had this top rarity in its range since the early 1960s. The first crates of this year's harvest have just arrived. Darjeeling's tea gardens, at altitudes of up to 2,300m on the sunny southern slopes of the Himalayas, produce the finest, most floral, and most distinguished tea: First Flush Darjeeling SFTGFOP1. In mid-March, the nights in the tea gardens are still relatively cold, but during the day the sun is already shining brightly, ensuring that the first tender shoots emerge from the tea bushes.

Dallmayr was one of the first teahouses to offer this so-called flight tea, which is transported by plane from Calcutta via London to Munich, as early as the 1960s.
