Mistletoe is probably known to everyone as a yellow-green, spherically growing semi-parasite on coniferous and soft-wood deciduous trees. The use of mistletoe as a medicinal plant can be traced back to the fifth century BC. Mistletoe has many different properties and is therefore used in a variety of ways.
Maceration (cold extraction) for 8 to 10 hours is often recommended for the preparation of mistletoe tea in order to separate unwanted accompanying substances (viscotoxins). However, it should be noted that after the tea has been prepared and the filter bag has been removed, the infusion must be briefly boiled again to sterilize it.
